Timber doors in Newmarket
The Garage and Side Doors we make for Newmarket is set out from a survey, not a size chart. Because the area is mainly colour-washed timber-framed cottages, wool-town merchant houses and coastal stock, no two openings measure quite the same. The other factor is dry easterly climate with strong coastal salt exposure, which is why lime-render and timber junction failure where movement opens the seal is the most common reason people call us. Our focus on this is matching secondary doors so the elevation reads as one scheme.
Manufacture only starts once the survey figures are agreed with you in writing. We will price it properly in writing, and we will tell you if it is not worth doing.
Something particular to this area: Lavenham-style timber framing needs specialist scribed repair, not replacement.

What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
Do you fit, or supply only?
Both. Supply-only is common for trade and contractor clients. For private clients we usually recommend supply and fit, because responsibility for the fit and the finish then sits in one place.
Is the timber certified?
All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
Can you match an existing profile?
Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
Do you work in hardwood or softwood?
Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.
